A Tea and Coffee Station: A Cosy Addition to the Home
Relax and unwind, or wake up with ease by making your own cosy tea and coffee station at home. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Whether you add a tea and coffee station to your kitchen bench, pantry or make it a feature in your home it is bound to make the place so cosy and welcoming.

Why you need to create a tea and coffee station
Two of my favourite things are herbal tea and coffee. If you’re reading this, I am going to assume you completely understand when I say, “With coffee I am a better person!” The first thing I do of a morning is walk straight to my coffee machine. I’d say those around me prefer that I do, because unfortunately achieving a good mood depends on when I have finished my morning coffee! Having a coffee and tea station makes it so much easier to find everything I need to put my coffee together without having to utilise unnecessary brainpower early in the morning. I know you won’t be laughing at this because you are probably thinking the same thing.
Not only am I obsessed with the taste, comfort and energy that coffee brings, but I’m also obsessed with the warm, relaxing and sometimes medicinal benefits that a cup of tea can offer. Of an evening I can often be seen sitting on a couch, in dim light, sipping on my “Sleepy Time” tea. It is such a great way to wind down after a busy, sometimes stressful day of work. Normally you are a coffee or tea drinker, but not me, I love both!

Just think for a moment why you love drinking your coffee or tea, whether it be in a coffee shop or at home… I’m going to take a guess that it isn’t just for the relaxing/energising, or other medicinal effects it has on your body. I believe you might also love the feeling it gives as it warms your insides, the aroma as the tea seeps or coffee brews, watching the steam rise, the cosy feeling it gives as the heat touches your hands, the aesthetics of the cute little cups or mugs, and sometimes it can even be the company you also enjoy. Would I be right? Creating an organised space in your home to cater for all these senses is not only practical, but will bring you joy. I have convinced you now, haven’t I?

Things needed to create a coffee and tea station
I personally wanted to create a little cabinet next to my kitchen for the precise purpose of organising my coffee and tea. I already had a large collection of these things taking up room in my pantry and thought it best to move and coalesce it all into one space.

Every person is different with regards to what they prefer in their tea and coffee. The idea is to shift everything you need into one place to reduce the rummaging and unneeded brainpower to create your morning/evening cup of happiness. Below you will find all the things I used to organise my coffee and tea station.
- A cabinet, space or caddy – to organise all your utensils, machines and ingredients. I bought my cabinet from Ikea. It is the HAUGA Cabinet with 2 doors. I love that it can display my coffee machine on top and also provide enough space underneath for putting together the warm beverages.
- Mugs or cups – stack them or I have seen people creatively hang them on the wall. Having them close by means one less cupboard to open.
- Travel mugs – because sometimes you need one for on-the-go.
- Utensils – this includes teaspoons, tea strainers, coffee filters, accessories for the machines, coasters, etc.
- Tea towels and dish cloths – to clean your machine, wipe up spills, etc. It also is a great place to store your linen close to the kitchen.
- Additional extras – chocolate powders, malted milk powder, cinnamon, honey, marshmallows, sugar, syrups, etc. I keep the marshmallows and sugar easy to access. Seeing the little pink and white clouds in a jar also make me happy. Sometimes it is all about the aesthetics!
- Sweet treats – If you are anything like me, sometimes a little sweet treat with your tea or coffee is a must. They are also great to have for guests. For guests it can be a nice touch to add a biscuit or a little chocolate next to the beverage. No one is ever going to complain about receiving something sweet with their coffee.
- Coffee and Tea – the most important of it all! You must not forget the coffee beans, loose leaf teas and tea bags. Remember to include all your favourites!

How to put it all together
There are a few things to consider when putting together a coffee and tea station. I have listed a few tips below. But the biggest tip I could give is to have fun putting it together. The process itself can be quite enjoyable.
- Be creative! Make it you! Bring in features that provide comfort and make you happy. You like green… then incorporate it.
- Put all the things you use to make your tea and coffee in the same area. For example, make sure the kettle and teaspoons are included in your tea and coffee station. It can be annoying crossing the kitchen in search of a teaspoon, when you can easily have a jar of teaspoons within arms reach.
- Don’t stress about having absolutely every flavour of tea and different forms of coffee. Just include things that you will enjoy or that you know your close friends/family will love. There is no sense in having something that you know you won’t use, as it will just go to waste.
- Organise, organise, organise! If there is one thing that I love it is labeled containers and jars. Have a system. If you have a system it is less likely to become a chaotic mess overtime. Have a designated space for the coffee, tea, utensils, coffee cups, sugar, etc.
- Place the tea and coffee station somewhere easy to get to. The easier it is to access, the more you will use it. Near the kitchen is usually a great spot. If I had the room I’d also put one in the spare bedroom to bring the luxury feeling of a hotel stay for my guests.

Whether coffee or tea is your poison, creating a tea and coffee station in your home will be sure to reduce the fuss of rummaging for all the bits and pieces. It also provides an organised space to help you serve others with ease in your home. Don’t feel that you have to make a designated cabinet on show for everyone to see. A small tucked away tea and coffee station can deliver the same amount of goods. Just make the jump and create one. I promise you won’t regret it!
