Welcome

Hey, I’m Caitlin!

Thanks for visiting our nourishing acreage.

My husband and I live on a small acreage in Central Queensland, Australia. A couple of years ago we made the move from a townhouse to a small “hobby farm”, where we now have acres to enjoy and room for all our favourite hobbies.

Living simply and nourishing my body, in the best way I know how, is my aim. Spending time in my garden, kitchen and with my animals is how I choose to nourish myself. Homemaking and prioritising self-care helps me find peace in what can be a chaotic life.

Ever heard the saying, “You reap what you sow.” What you put in, is what you get out. That goes for every aspect of life. For instance, your mental health is dependant on how much you allow yourself to rest. My mother constantly told me (and still tells me) that I need to “stop and smell the roses”. We need to take time out of our busy life to really relax and enjoy the beauty of life. I believe we all need to find what helps us unwind and separates us from the stress of life. Let’s find our “roses” and take the time to stop and “smell” them.

Please stay a while and see how I continue to learn ways to nourish every aspect of my life.

Where this all began

Initially self-care was not at the forefront of my mind. After a few years working in the healthcare setting, I began to find myself tired and burnt out from the stress and pressure that the job involved. Naturally I am a perfectionist and stress-head! So I had to find a way to fill my cup, enabling me to then overflow and give to others. Through this, I found I really loved gardening, my farm animals, cooking from scratch, homemade things and creating a cosy, clean and organised home. I began to realise that as I concentrated on these things as well as healthy foods, exercise, my christian faith, and began to declutter my house and mind; I was recharged and reinvigorated. All of this helped me to work with less stress. I began to flourish!

We need to nourish ourselves! What you put into your life is what you will get back. Your physical health is dependant on the foods that you feed your body (and obviously lots of other things). Similarly, resting and finding your “roses” will positively impact your mental health. So feed yourself well and your body will thank you. Allow your mind to rest and you will be refreshed.

You have to nourish, before you can flourish! x
